September Camp – Survival

Never Give Up

What happens in a survival environment if you give up? The results aren’t good…

The Need for Self-Discipline

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.   – 1 Corinthians 9:24

Time to Learn Survival Skills & Time to Learn Scripture

This month we had the opportunity to go back to some primal instincts. We got to get dirty, learn how to survive, and learn about our Creator. From time in scripture to learning new skills, we are seeing these young men growing in huge ways in their confidence. We have had several moms share with us that their sons are more confident than they have ever seen them before. The impact Jesus is having on these guys through our mentors and through our teachings is absolutely incredible!

Primitive Fire Starting

We learned how to start a fire the primitive way; with flint and steel. Though only one young man was able to get a fire started, and that was through the waterproof/windproof matches that were provided to them in their survival packs.

Survival Snares

The young men learned how extremely important it is to get the most work done with the least amount of energy exerted. In a survival situation, the more energy you conserve the more likely you are to survive.

The Rule of 3

The young men learned the Rule of 3…
You can last 3 minutes without air
You can last 3 hours without shelter
You can last 3 days without water
You can last 3 weeks without food

Mom's Testimonies

We wanted to share some of the encouragement the moms of our campers have been sharing with us, about how Advance Camp has affected their sons.

“C asked me when the next camp was. He was so excited to show us what he had learned to cook at the last camp. Haven’t ever seen him that confident. So thankful for everyone involved.”

“He hasn’t stopped talking about it. Every few minutes he remembers something he hasn’t told us yet. He is ready for the next one.”

“I’ve never heard him talk about enjoying something so much.”

THANK YOU

Jesus is furthering Advance Camp Texas in ways we can’t even believe at times. He is impacting these guys’ lives in huge ways. Thank you for how YOU are participating in what Jesus is doing. Thank you for your prayers, your encouragement, your skills, your time, and your finances. Thank you.
