March Camp – Woodworking

Well Done Good and Faithful Servant

“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

– Matthew 25:19-21 NIV

SAWS...SAWS.....AND SAWS

We taught about table saws, radial arm chop saws, circular saws, and even chain saws (including one planer) to do our wood working camp.

Planer

This camp we made two projects; a paper towel holder and a cutting board. We taught the use and purpose of a planer to the young men so they could properly prepare their edge before joining two pieces together.

Measure Twice Cut Once

The old adage was taught and proved its value. We did lots of wood cutting and not a single missing finger or mis-cut. None of our campers had used all the tools we taught at camp and only a couple of them even had used one of the tools in the past.

Ice Cream Time

We completed all of our projects so we were able to enjoy some ice cream at Silver Saddle Saloon!

Upcoming Camp and Needs

If all goes as planned we will be doing lawn care for the month of April. We will be teaching lawn care kills and servanthood at the same time. We will be serving someone in our community by working on their land.

Donations needed for Camp:
Walk-behind mowers
Lawn hand tools
Utility trailer
