June Camp – Ranching

Work Hard, Pray Hard, Play Hard.

All we have is God’s.  How do we properly steward it?

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.   – 1 Chronicles 29:11-13

This month we took the young men out to Pastor Jeremy’s ranch to learn skills that have been passed down from generation to generation. They learned the value of working hard, praying hard, and playing hard. These ranch chores were hard work, but the young men embraced them and learned so much!

Work Hard

All the young men learned the value of taking care and respecting God’s creation. They had a hands on experience with wrestling the calves for ear tagging, vaccinating, de-worming, along with many other ways to treat the animals with care.

Pray Hard

You better bet these young men were praying hard as they worked together to build corner posts and put in cross posts. One of our young men wants to become a rancher, even after experiencing how hard they work. We are all about opening their eyes to new trades and skills.

Play Hard

We had some competitive corn-hole at lunch and a much needed refreshing dip in the swimming hole at the end of a hot day. Walls break down for both our young men and our mentors during times of games and play.

Upcoming Camp

Our Next camp will be leather working.  Tandy leather is working with to provide us with a master leather worker to teach the young men the skill of leather working. They are also graciously discounting the kits needed to build a couple projects during camp.

Current Need

For our next camp, we would love to have the young men’s kits sponsored. They are $15 per camper and we are expecting approximately 9 campers. If you feel led to help cover this cost, either reply to this email or go to www.advancecamptexas.com/give and donate through our site.  THANK YOU!
